Experimenting in the small accordion sketchbook, trying to find my footing and loosen up a bit.

I'm not concerned with media or subject yet, just trying to get a handle on the format, so am putting in the sort of random observational drawings that normally fill my sketchbook journals.

Preliminary sketching - breaking through the block

I came across some accordion moleskines while in Rome, and decided to stock up a bit - perhaps having a small heap of them lying on my table would make it easier for me to start throwing something into at least one of them. I can't get the accordion books in Denmark so this was a lucky chance (and since the other books were slightly cheaper there as well I grabbed a few).

I seem to be completely blocked when it comes to starting our large exchange book, so last night I broke out one of the little accordion books from Rome. I will treat this as a genuine sketchbook, where I can mix and experiment with various ideas as they pop up, and hopefully that will lead to getting the actual exchange moly on its way.

So far I have just put in an evening sketch of the kind I would otherwise have done in my pocket sketchbook journal. It is a beginning at least.

It's christened (see above), so now, on to the drawing proper! *cracks knuckles*

The Danish contestant...

The Great Dane:

large japanese moleskine

I couldn't find the Japanese style sketchbooks anywhere in Denmark, so this one came via the Internet and has already made its first journey across the North Sea to get here. Now to make som marks in it and whack it back over the UK way.
